Voice and swallowing disorders can occur for several reasons, including certain medical conditions, neurological conditions, and structural abnormalities. Treatment varies from individual to individual. It depends on the cause and severity of the disorder. Treatments may include treating the underlying cause, rehabilitation, and changes in food preparation. In some cases, surgery may be used to correct problems with the vocal cords.
